One of the greatest shockers of Mr. President’s maiden Media Chat was the claim that he was unaware of any of his Ministers currently in court for corruption.

Mr. President among others said, “I don’t think I took anybody among the ministers who has got a case in court. Tell me one out of the 36. I don’t think I will deliberately make that mistake.”
In response to President Buhari’s request for information on any minister in court (and for corruption), it is important to put the records straight that his minister for Transport, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is not just in court for a corruption related case, but used that as the pretext to excuse himself from probe by the Senate during his screening and secure his clearance as a Ministerial nominee in a widely aired broadcast on national television.
The particulars of the case are as follow: CA/PH/342/2015: ROTIMI AMAECHI V GOV. OF RIVERS STATE. Ricky Tarfa, SAN, is Mr. Amaechi’s lawyer.

It is therefore surprising to note that Mr. President is not aware in spite of it being a fact which Mr. Amaechi himself affirms. It appears to be a mistake Mr. President didn’t make deliberately.
