The National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons Wednesday donated relief materials to victims of farmers/herders clashes in the affected local government areas in Benue State.
The benefiting four local government areas included Agatu, Tarka, Buruku and Logo.
Speaking while making the donation, the Commission’s Acting Federal Commissioner, Mrs. Margaret Essien, who presented the items to representatives of victims pulled from the affected local government areas, said the gesture was meant to alleviate their sufferings.
Items donated included bags of rice, clothing, detergents, mats, pillows, mosquito nets, children’s wears, millet, toiletries, brushes and tooth paste, cooking stove, millet, vegetable oil, red oil and drugs among others.
Mrs. Essien expressed sadness with the heinous attack on innocent victims, saying the items were the commission’s widow might to cushion the effect of the attack on the IDP’s.
