The south west media handlers must be wondering about their journalistic acumen as the country dives in a tailspin. They must be wondering what sort of hypnosis they were under when a favorite son was hammering on the “million sins” of Buhari. The south west media, acting like drunken sailors danced, sang hymns of drunken sailors, mocked and hyped on the messiah called Buhari. They refused to read the nauseating contents anthoured by their son. In the “million sins” of Buhari, the future of Nigeria under Buhari was in stark black and white. Today, those who naively thought by bankrolling his presidential ambitions they were going to share power with the north are biting the dust, getting ready to swallow their vomit.
In less than a year, Buhari wasted no time to tell, not only the owners of the south west media, their followers, apologists but the millions of inebriated and gullible Nigerians that the country they cherished so much is seriously been torn apart by the messiah himself. How did they like the Fulani herdsmen taking chief Olu Falae for early morning brunch whenever they feel like it?
The warning signs were all there. The early symptoms of a one man wrecking device were all there for all to see. When Buhari went to Chatham House, London and said he had no freaking remorse about his days as a military dictator, the people should have felt the toll of the warning bells. But the pull of greed, power, the Stockholm Syndrom became a deadly cocktail too powerful to resist. What about history that the smart intellectuals in the south west don’t understand? All along they flaunted the fact they were the most educated, most travelled, exposed, most cultured and all that.
Fortunately or unfortunately, all that intellectual bragadocio was trounced by a man who could wave in their faces a mere nepa bill for a damned certificate! Today, they continue to swim in Buhari’s poisoned waters because like the proverbial Ostrich, the only way for them is bury their heads in the hot sands of the savannah. When a people are not touched by shame, their unborn generstions are forever damned to hell.
Many gullible Nigerians are now feeling the heat of a born dictator. Many are now wondering the elixir they took when they sang songs of chanGe, chanGe, the national anthem according to chanGe! What really were they thinking? Here is what they were thinking. That they would be given the keys to the caliphate’s slave plantation. That in effect, they would be treated a little better than the southern slaves. That their man, their son would be in Aso Rock as too, sharing the dizzying corridors of power. But the fact remains, his use as a figure head, as a gateman cannot be denied. Their son couldn’t even sit in the same room when a certain el Rufai is with the president.
There’s no doubt, given the events of the last 10 months that the concept of Buhari as Africa’s last messiah was cooked from the shrine of an Ifa preast. Wittingly or unwittingly, the chefs in the Ifa kitchen forgot the movie the King of Scotland. They forgot that self-styled messiahs come in different shapes, sizes and hues. They forgot the one they were courting was a celebrated dictator who studied fascism and medieval history all his adult life. They forgot how he delt with them in his first coming as a masked messiah. They forgot how he carted away Michael Ajasin into jail for 300 years. They forgot how he cancelled their metro rail line project and bull dozed his way through the south west. But for political expediency to diss a minority president, they contrived a poisoned chalice. Now, they are swimming in the poisoned waters they helped to create. They forgot the body language of nemesis.
From crisis to crisis, from grace to grass. Only recently Kongi too was screaming! Ah, how low can hypocrisy get. The author of the “million sins” of Buhari singing the blues? He recaptured the sight left by the Fulani herdsmen on his space. Poetic justice! You see, when hyppos funded by a Nebuchadnezzar march through the lush grazing reserves with assault weapons, they feel untouchable. Remember, these are specially invited Libyans and Chadians with orders to burn down villages, kidnap and rape anything on their part. These are no ordinary Libyans. Now the sons of Nero and Judas must understand the AK carrying Fulani Libyan herdsmen don’t give a sh*t about your conclave called Nigeria. They care about the slave plantation been well managed. Mess up the keys and you are on your own.
Aside from the events leading up to the Biafran civil war and the locust years of 1984 and 85, there was no other time Nigeria danced on the brink like she is doing now. The west African king of Scotland is doing some numbers on beloved one Nigeria. Don’t you folks like to hear the sound of one Nigeria? Don’t you like the roaring of the war drums from the sahara? Don’t you love the long queues at the gas stations, the voices crying out for help? Don’t you like the ravages of the Stockholm Syndrome? You all must be enjoying the disillusion, despair and utter hopelessness that now envelopes the air. You all must be enjoying the tyranny and excesses of power. Do you guys enjoy the indefinite locking up of your very own with trumped up excuses? Do you really like what you see has become of one Nigeria? Tell the truth, eat your heart out. It is my pleasure!
