The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assigned ‎portfolios to the members of the 7-man national caretaker committee, led by a former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

The committee was constituted at the May 21 national convention of the party, held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, mandated to administer the affairs of the party for three months, within which to conduct a national convention.

 

The committee assumed office last Monday.

A statement yesterday by PDP’s Head of Publicity, Chinwe I. Nnorom,‎ said Senator Ben Obi is secretary of the committee; ‎Prince Dayo Adeyeye (publicity); Hajiya Aisha Aliyu (women and youth)‎; Senator Abdul Ningi (organization and mobilization); Senator Odion Ogbesia (financial, treasury and audit); and‎ Barr. Kabir Usman (legal).‎

“The national chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, reiterated ‎that members of the committee would not exceed the period given to them by the national convention to reorganise, reform and conduct a free, fair, credible and an all-inclusive national convention,” the statement said.

According to Nnorom, the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) and the PDP ‎secretariat staff were intimated of the new portfolios, at a meeting between the committee, NDI and the workers.
