President of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA, Mike Ogrima, has refuted claims that Nigerian doctors cannot treat President Buhari’s ears, forcing him to travel to the UK to see an ENT doctor.

Speaking to journalists in Jos, Plateau state yesterday June 9th, Ogrima who is a professor of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, said Nigerian doctors are capable of handling any health challenge President Buhari is facing.

“We have 250 TNC surgeon doctors all over Nigeria, capable of handling the health challenge President Muhammadu Buhari is being faced with. We do not know the reason for his referral to the UK for treatment. This is because the present administration had made it clear that it was not in support of Nigerians seeking medical attention outside the country.”
