The husband of slain Bridget Agbahime, who was killed recently in Kano by Muslim fanatics, Pastor Mike Agbahime, met with Governor Rochas Okorocha, at the weekend, and narrated how his wife was murdered by a mob.
He told a visibly shocked Okorocha the gory details of how his wife was gruesomely murdered in his presence by Muslim fanatics, noting that he survived the attack by the grace of God. According to Agbahime, a man called Dauda came to my wife’s shop, who was washing his leg in front of the shop.
My wife told the man to move up a little so that she could arrange her goods, but the man refused. Instead, the man started to molest her, gripping her neck. In trying to free herself from the grip, Dauda started shouting ‘Alahu alakuba’ and the mob quickly gathered.”
Continuing, he said: “When we saw that danger was in the air, we ran and took refuge in the house of a prominent Alhaji, who is a leader in the area. The Alhaji did all he could to calm the mob down.
They refused and called him an infidel, and broke into his house and killed my wife in front of me. And if not for the quick intervention of the police, which dispersed the mob with teargas, they would have killed me also. But they destroyed everything I had, both the shop.” the car and others.”
In his response, Governor Rochas Okorocha described the late Bridget as a heroine, because it took more than 100 men and women to bring her down, describing the gruesome murder of the woman as highly provocative, barbaric and the highest wickedness of man to man.
