THE CALL FOR SEPARATIONBY BRADY NWOSU.

From my good understanding of world events, there is no nation on earth today where big is better except Nigeria. People always give instances with United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada and others, but they leave out the fact that these are loose federations with solid understanding of the content of their coexistence. 

I don’t know how knowingly or unknowingly APC and President Buhari arrived at this change agenda, but I guess it is right time they begin to give it a very deep thought, adapt to the challenges of the time, and begin to restructure Nigeria. I am praying that they should just do that otherwise, in the next 50 years, we will still be singing the same old song and the immense potentialities that abound in this country will never be called forth. 

However, make no mistake about it, change there must be. The world can no longer wait for Nigeria. Just look at this simple data I’m putting before you, and it will be very clear to you that at various times when great civilizations saw the complex evolution of the modern man, they peaceably resorted to compact management of men and resources. Those that refused to did so by force of arms. 

As at today, the current population of Germany is 81.2million, Sweden 9.9million, Denmark 5.6million, Norway 5.2million, Finland 5.5million, Iceland 332.3 thousand, Estonia 1.3million, Latvia 1.9million, Slovenia 2million, Switzerland 8.2million, Romania 19.3million, Slovakia 5.4million, Austria 8.5million, Hungary 9.8million, Greece 10. 9million; Add them up, they are approximately the current population of Nigeria even when our figures could be more. 

If for years this unitary leviathan we operate now has not achieved for us a nation of all and for all, there is no reason why any right thinking Nigerian will not support the call to restructure Nigeria for a more efficient and effective management of her human and material resources? 

For Christ’ sake, we are not animals with base sentiments and there is no reason why it should be seen as calling for the dissolution of Nigeria. It calls for no argument, whenever and wherever men decides to live together, they are bound to keep talking and keep negotiating until they reach an acceptable basis for such coexistence; otherwise, it has never worked.
