When men of the DSS invaded Akwa Ibom State Govt House and came up with that ridiculous story of discovery of loads of dollars, many Nigerians hailed the service. Even though no evidence was presented apart from foreign photographs taken from online platforms, APC supporters were everywhere, clapping for the DSS for a job well done.
When DSS turned Ekiti State to its only assignment, abducting members of the State House of Assembly and harassing other govt functionaries, the reaction from Buhari’s supporters was hailing and praising of the service for jobs well done.
Was it not on the strength of DSS report that judges were suspended?
The DSS once said this in defence of the invasion of judges residences and APC/Buhari social media camp hailed the service then.
“In one of the States where the Service operations were conducted, credible intelligence revealed that the Judge had Two Million United States Dollars ($2,000,000USD) stashed in his house. When he was approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the State Governor, mobilized thugs against the Service team. The team restrained itself in the face of unbridled provocative activities by those brought in by the Governor. Unfortunately, the Judge and Governor also engaged the tacit support of a sister security agency.
“The Service surveillance team noticed that upon frustrating the operation, the Judge with the active support of the Governor craftily moved the money to an unknown location which the Service is currently making effort to unravel.”
The DSS also claimed that N27m cash was found inside the bathroom of Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, justice of the supreme court, but it “completely disappeared”, alongside exotic cars.
“The first instruction Justice Ngwuta gave to a witness was “go and get rid of those cars”, and that the second instruction was “go to my bathroom you will find two bags,” DSS claimed.
We warned then, but we were called names. We said DSS should follow due process of the law in carrying out its duties, but members of the Buhari Media Centre said we were complaining because we benefited from corruption.
We asked questions as to how DSS was about to know the exact amount of money kept in the judges residences without having access to the money. We asked how N27m cash could have found by the Service in a judge’s bathroom and the cash later disappeared.
We told Nigerians that no one will be spared by the tyranny that the DSS and EFCC were turning themselves to, but those who ought to have dropped their garment of politics and join us speak against the reign of terror said nothing. Some even defended President Buhari.
Now that it has happened to their own Magu, I guess they need not complain because this is just the beginning. DSS report will soon be used to deny students admission to FG schools.
Even Magu himself, did he at anytime respect the rights of other Nigerians to FAIR hearing?
Up till the time Magu was rejected by the Senate, our friends in the Buhari Media Centre were still lecturing Nigerians on why it was not necessarily for the CUSTOMS CG, Col Hammid Ali to wear uniform. They were still defending his affront against the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his decision to impose hardships on Nigerians with his directive that Tokunbo vehicles owners in the entire country should visit FOUR CUSTOMS OFFICES in Lagos, Kaduna, Port-Harcourt and Bauchi to check the authenticity of their vehicles CUSTOM PAPERS.
They were even telling us that CUSTOMS can invade our kitchen to check whether we cook banned rice.
As for me, I rejoice with Magu for experiencing what other Nigerians have experienced in the draconian hands of DSS and EFCC.
Let the power arrogance continue and let the accompanying drama keep unfolding.
