Ohan’eze Ndi Igbo should not confront IPOB, Kanu or the youths to avoid the unthinkable.

If they have any advice or suggestion for them, they should do it off the print media. They goofed last time. One cannot read Afenifere berating OPC on the pages of newspapers or ACF on their youths in public. Igbos, despite their population and business acumen, they are politically naive. That’s why other tribes manipulate Igbos like the pool batters. Youths are more populous, and if they begin to disrespect Ohan’eze, they will lose value in Igboland. They are about to lose the little they just garnered.

Ohan’eze should not forget their history so soon. They have served no useful purpose for Ndi Igbo in the past because of their infighting, factions and selfish driven individuals. The past Ohan’eze leaders had running battle with Ojukwu because they were after their selfish interests, and not for Ndi Igbo.

Now that they seem to be discovering themselves, they should not slip. A father earns respect from his children if he has cleared the coast and laid a good foundation for their future. But if he has done anything, and his children decide to fight for their future, he should not stand on their way or he will get the surprise of his life. A man warned his son against associating with wealthy people’s children, because he has no money to bail him out, if he gets into trouble. The son replied ‘what were you doing when your mates were getting rich’? Ohan’eze wouldn’t like this type of reply from Igbo youths.

Ohan’eze had failed in many occasions. What did they do when Fashola deported Igbos from Lagos? What did they do when Kwakwanso destroyed Igbo shops and businesses in Kano? What did they do when INEC and Jega disenfranchised Ndi Igbo by not registering them? Those who managed to register have no PVC. As at today, the Ndi Igbo voting population is less than what obtains in one Northern State. If you don’t have the population, you lose your power of negotiation. This is one of the salient fights Ohan’eze should be fighting and not antagonizing IPOB to please our enemies.

They should be seen to be guiding and protecting the youths, and not confronting them. Igbo youths are being pushed into a straight jacket and there seems to be no future for them in the current settings. Glass ceilings and barriers abound everywhere. Ohan’eze should be breaking those barriers for the youths to sail through. They should ensure good governance in The Southeast region.

The little from Federal allocation has not been managed properly by our governors. Ohan’eze should be nonpolitical to be able to call the governors to order. A situation where a governor fills his cabinet with his family members is wrong. They should be able to bring all the governors together for our own corporate good.

Job creation should be top in their agenda. Ohan’eze should not be silent when Southeast region receives 10% of what goes to Northwest in same national budget. If they don’t fight for the youth, they lack the moral obligation to caution them. There are a lot Ohan’eze should be doing than trying to divide the house and please our enemies.
