Nigeria gained pseudo independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960. In 1963, it supposedly became a republic. Since then, it has been assumedly a sovereign nation with its own government with limited ability to make progress due to very bad leadership.

Nigeria has faced various avoidable challenges and issues over the years, not limited to political instability, corruption, nepotism, tribalism, bigotry, economic stagnation, serious internal and external security concerns as well as overall mediocre visionless leadership and governance. So, while Nigeria is technically independent, its journey as a nation has been marked by hard-knock state of affairs which suggests problems of hard-starting due to serious engine problems and low fuel.

Happy independence Day all the same 63 years later.
