Dear Concerned Citizens,

I write to you today with an urgent message that touches upon our health and well-being, particularly concerning reused bottles and containers found in hospitals and their potential risks to unsuspecting consumers.

It has come to our attention that empty bottles of water and cans used by patients in hospitals are sometimes repackaged and sold by cleaners who collect them during their cleaning routines. Shockingly, these containers may have been used by patients who suffer from various illnesses, leading to serious health risks if not handled and reused cautiously.

In some unfortunate cases, these containers have been found to contain saliva or even urine from patients suffering from diseases like tuberculosis (TB), HIV, Hepatitis, and other infectious illnesses. The reuse of these containers without proper sanitization poses significant dangers to the unsuspecting consumers who purchase and consume drinks made from them.

The gravity of this situation cannot be overstated. It’s deeply troubling to consider that innocent individuals might inadvertently expose themselves to life-threatening diseases by simply purchasing drinks made from repurposed containers. This includes popular beverages like Zobo, Tiger nut drinks, Kunu, and even bottled groundnut.

The cycle of potential infection and illness continues when these containers are not properly sanitized before being used to package drinks for sale. Your health and safety are of utmost importance, and it’s crucial to be vigilant and cautious about the sources of the containers from which your drinks are made.

Please take heed and be extremely careful when purchasing drinks from sources that reuse containers. Your awareness and mindfulness can prevent you from falling victim to such health risks. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of ensuring that the containers used to package beverages are from safe and trusted sources.

Let’s all work together to safeguard our health. Your well-being matters, and I implore you to remain cautious and vigilant in your consumer choices. Spread this awareness to friends, family, and loved ones to protect them from potential health hazards.

Let’s stay safe and mindful as we make our everyday choices.

Sincerely,

Chimazuru Nnadi-Oforgu
