Prophet Albert Chinụalụmọgụ Achebe echoed: the white man is clever, we were amused at his foolishness and let him stay, now he has put a knife to that which held us together “THINGS HAVE FALLEN APART”, in like manner the draconian approach to shove liberal ideals down the throats of African’s using all sorts of treaties like the Samoa partnership agreement as bait to impose liberal ideals on Africa will later have an adverse impact on our values, culture and traditions.
African traditional institutions are in a deep slobber and have failed to come to terms with reality that there is a draconian liberal agenda to indoctrinate our children through social media and introduction of same sex sexual explicit content in children’s programs by the worlds largest content development company such as Disney and Nickelodeon.
The walls of the church has cracked, the walls of the traditional institutions and Islam are the last standing. May the docility of my people not facilitate the second phenomenon of “things fall apart” in our lifetime.
We witnessed the desecration of the body of Christ in the controversial tableau, when drag queens and dancers lined a long table in an image mocking “The Last Supper” portrait of Jesus Christ and his 12 apostles in opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.
Any titled Igbo son that is unable to use knowledge to know his responsibility as a gate keeper and have the understanding that liberal ideals is a threat to our values, culture and traditions is not worthy to be a title holder.
It is now time for our traditional institutions to commence an audit of existing titles holders and begin to question all manner of characters who seek to embellish themselves with traditional tiltles, because In Igbo cosmology, title holders are like the gatekeepers of values, culture and tradition, who are able to rub nzu (white chalk) around their left eye to see beyond the horizon.
Where do you draw the line and stop this lunacy of overlooking these uchu tendencies that we all know will certainly have adverse effect in our society as we see frequently?
The gate keepers of the Igbo culture and traditions must come to terms with the reality and acknowledge that the world is in a “Culture World War”, similar to a nuclear war, which puts our values, culture and tradition in an existential treat, hence we are faced by a disguised potent danger of the extermination of our values, culture and traditions by liberal Ideals that have adopted their most potent form.
The supposedly gatekeepers of our culture and traditions have a straight forward choice to make right now, of either sacrificing liberal principles to save the Igbo society or sacrificing Igbo society to save liberal principles.
They cannot have both, no matter how much they desire to have the two. Any of them that says that Igbo culture and traditions can mix with liberal ideals; we know that it is time to consult the oracle on their behalf and bring them down to reality by asking them to distinguish between ji na ede, because even in the depths of famine, one must never claim that ji na ede are the same.
Commensurate consequences will begin to attach our traditional rulers and title holders who fail to uphold our tradition, culture and values over liberal ideals by ignoring the dangerous imposition of liberal ideals in our Igbo society.
They will one day find themselves stammering to answer to the FOR or AGAINST question in their various community town halls and market squares before mobly inquisitors.
It’s from these sort of “ogbasaram attitude”, that we begin to appreciate the “fatwa” concept in the Muslim world.
Those who do not know where the rain started beating them will never know where it stopped!!
