In 2024, while the world was distracted by headlines and global spectacles, the most perilous threats to humanity advanced unnoticed. The U.S.-NATO provoked Ukraine war escalated into a proxy conflict with Russia, a confrontation orchestrated by American neocons, simmering since the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991. This war gained momentum in 2014 with the U.S.-backed overthrow of Ukraine’s elected pro-Russian government, setting the stage for today’s devastation. Now, the mission is clear: weaken Russia at any cost, no matter the consequences for global security.

Simultaneously, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict erupted once more. Hamas’ October 2023 attack triggered an overwhelming response from the Netanyahu government, which has since killed over 40,000 Palestinians, many of them women and children. The sheer scale of the destruction has horrified global observers, yet the massacre shows no signs of abating.

Amid these crises, the world briefly turned its attention to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics—a momentary illusion of global unity and peace. In the U.S., political drama unfolded with President Joe Biden stepping down from his re-election bid, allowing Vice President Kamala Harris to take the stage. But this political spectacle paled in comparison to the far more chilling developments lurking in the shadows.

On August 20, 2024, the New York Times dropped a bombshell. President Biden had secretly approved a new nuclear strategy involving simultaneous confrontations with Russia, China, and North Korea. This wasn’t a hypothetical plan—it was a real and terrifying escalation. The U.S., the only nation to have ever used nuclear weapons in war, is now preparing for another potential showdown. The lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have apparently been forgotten, and the prospect of another nuclear catastrophe is real.

Biden despite his rumoured mental deficiencies has secretly approved a new nuclear strategy involving simultaneous confrontations with Russia, China, and North Korea.

The Doomsday Clock, maintained by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, remains at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been to symbolizing global destruction. The clock warns of existential threats like nuclear war, climate change, and the unchecked rise of artificial intelligence. In 2024, the world has not stepped back from the brink. Instead, the threat has grown more imminent.

The Doomsday Clock, maintained by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists,

The collapse of arms control agreements has accelerated this descent into chaos. In 1991, the world celebrated the signing of the START I treaty between the U.S. and Soviet Union, significantly reducing nuclear arsenals. But that hopeful era of disarmament has crumbled. The U.S. abandoned the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) treaty in 2002, dooming the START II agreement. Later efforts, such as the New START treaty under President Obama, faced resistance and skepticism. Though Biden extended the New START in 2021, no new negotiations have emerged, leaving the world’s nuclear powers without restraints as they race toward catastrophe.

Start 1. Though Biden extended the New START in 2021, no new negotiations have emerged.

Today, a new Cold War has dawned, with the U.S.-NATO alliance squaring off against the Russia-China-North Korea-Iran bloc. Tensions have never been higher, and the absence of arms control treaties only amplifies the risk of a nuclear confrontation.

A new Cold War has dawned, with the U.S.-NATO alliance squaring off against the Russia-China-North Korea-Iran bloc.

The parallels to the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis are unnerving. Back then, the U.S. and Soviet Union narrowly avoided nuclear war through diplomacy and mutual concessions. Today, such diplomacy is absent. The U.S. continues to encircle Russia and China with military bases and nuclear warheads, refusing to negotiate in good faith. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while devastating, is also a predictable response to NATO’s aggressive expansion and the West’s stubborn refusal to engage diplomatically.

Now, as we stand on the precipice of nuclear war, global action is imperative. A full-scale nuclear conflict would not only kill millions but would also trigger economic collapse and environmental catastrophe, including nuclear winter and mass famine. The only winners in such a scenario would be the military-industrial complexes of the nations involved, while ordinary citizens would face unimaginable suffering.

This brings us to an important call for American voters, especially as the nation approaches a critical election cycle. The choices made in 2024 will have profound consequences not just for America, but for the entire world. It is essential for voters to recognize the candidates who are beholden to the neoconservative, deep-state establishment that enables the military-industrial complex. These candidates perpetuate the same cycle of endless wars, reckless brinkmanship, and global instability. They are enablers of policies that push the U.S. towards destructive conflicts that threaten the entire planet.

The choice before Americans.

On the other hand, there are candidates who advocate for a more introspective, progressive course—one that acknowledges the realities of a changing, multipolar world. These leaders understand that America’s future does not lie in global dominance through military force, but in fostering diplomacy, cooperation, and sustainable progress. In a future that is increasingly multipolar, the United States must chart a new path that embraces peaceful coexistence, global collaboration, and the abandonment of outdated imperialist policies.

American voters must choose carefully, understanding the gravity of what is at stake. This election is about far more than domestic policies or partisan divides; it is about steering the nation—and the world—away from catastrophe. It is about rejecting the perpetual war machine that has defined U.S. foreign policy for decades and instead choosing leaders who will prioritize peace, diplomacy, and the well-being of humanity.

If world leaders continue to downplay this existential threat, humanity will face a disaster of unparalleled magnitude.

The delusion that a nuclear war can be “won” must be confronted. If world leaders continue to downplay this existential threat, humanity will face a disaster of unparalleled magnitude. Citizens must rise up and demand change. Governments must prioritize diplomacy and disarmament over escalation and aggression. The future of the planet hangs in the balance.

More than ever, we stand at a crossroads. We must choose peace and diplomacy, for the survival of humanity depends on it. The world is on the verge of sleepwalking into disaster, and only through global awareness and action can we pull back from the brink. Now is the time to wake up—before it is too late.
