The ongoing atrocities—bombings, targeted killings, and the destruction of homes—are a stark reminder of the overwhelming failure of global organizations like the United Nations (UN) and its Security Council. For over a year, the innocent cries of children, men, and women have been met with silence, while the very institutions meant to protect humanity remain powerless and indifferent. This impotence in challenging the bloodshed perpetuated by Israel, using American-supplied weapons, is a glaring indictment of a so-called “civilized” world that has lost its moral compass.

The rhetoric from global leaders, especially from President Biden and Secretary Blinken, offers little more than lip service. They claim to de-escalate tensions and focus on humanitarian aid, yet their actions—arming Israel with weapons of mass destruction—tell a different story. These leaders talk peace while enabling the very violence they supposedly condemn. This duplicity is painfully evident as Israel continues its bombardment, not only in Gaza but also in Lebanon, targeting civilians, withholding essential resources like food, water, and medicine, and attacking hospitals and places of worship. The question is no longer why but how much longer the world will tolerate this brutal hypocrisy.

The leadership in Israel, particularly under Prime Minister Netanyahu and his far-right coalition, exists in a political fantasy that does not represent the desires of the Israeli people for peace. The so-called “superiority” of Israel’s doctrine is crumbling under the weight of its lies, as Israelis themselves begin to realize that there is no future in Palestine based on violence and occupation. Haaretz’s Ari Shavit highlights this growing disillusionment, pointing out that the occupation, colonization, and suppression of democracy have led to a hopeless situation in which even Israelis are considering leaving the country in search of a better life elsewhere.

Aluf Benn, editor of Haaretz, further illustrates this sense of defeat among Israelis. Despite military advances in Gaza, the internal division and hopelessness within Israel continue to grow. Netanyahu’s right-wing government has exploited this division, pursuing extremist policies that crush any hope for Palestinian statehood and dismantle Israel’s own democratic institutions. The contradictions in Israeli politics, the relentless pursuit of dominance over the Palestinians, and the global isolation facing Israel all point to a leadership that is both paranoid and disconnected from reality.

Israelis are waking up to question the very foundations of Zionism, Jewish superiority, and the illusion of democracy that has been used to justify decades of violence and repression. The protests against the war, the calls for Netanyahu to resign, and the demand for peace all signal a growing awareness that the current path leads only to destruction—both for Israelis and Palestinians. But neither Biden nor Netanyahu seems capable of understanding this. They remain trapped in a political game, blind to the shifting realities around them and the human cost of their decisions.

What we are witnessing is not just the failure of individual leaders but the broader collapse of a global system that prioritizes power over humanity. Political cults—aggressive, self-serving, and devoid of accountability—are at the heart of this tragedy. Whether in the U.S., Israel, or elsewhere, these leaders are products of a system designed to perpetuate conflict, enrich the few, and crush any resistance. They are the enemies of peace, the architects of wars that destroy lives and cultures, and they operate without any regard for the consequences of their actions.

Humanity is at risk of extinction, not from natural disasters or the passage of time, but from the decisions of a small group of elite rulers who view the world as a battlefield. They are driven by greed, power, and the belief that they are untouchable. Yet history tells us that no empire, no regime, no ruler is eternal. The world is changing, and the forces that seek to dominate it will eventually collapse under the weight of their own brutality.

We, the people, must understand that the Earth and all life on it are fragile. The balance that sustains life is delicate, and our actions—or inactions—determine whether we survive or perish. The arrogance of leaders like Biden and Netanyahu, who act as though they are above the laws of nature and morality, is a threat not just to their enemies but to all of us. Their wars, their exploitation of resources, their disregard for human life, are all part of a larger system of destruction that must be challenged.

The United Nations, the Security Council, and other global bodies have failed us, but that does not mean we are powerless. It is up to the people to demand accountability, to push for justice, and to ensure that those responsible for crimes against humanity—whether in Gaza, Israel, or anywhere else—are held to account. The future of humanity depends on our willingness to stand against these powerful political cults and to fight for a world where life is valued over power.
