First published on October 17, 2023, at the outset of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, this analysis has been revised in April 2024 to reflect new developments and evidence suggesting a coordinated effort to justify actions against Palestine.
An ongoing propaganda campaign seeks to dismiss claims of a false flag operation, an orchestrated event used to justify the large-scale military assault on Gaza, which has led to the deaths of over 55,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.
False Flag or Intelligence Failure?
The question remains: Was Hamas’ “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm” truly a surprise attack, or was it allowed to happen to serve a broader geopolitical agenda?
Former intelligence officer Philip Giraldi expressed skepticism, stating:
> “It is impossible to believe that Israel did not have multiple informants inside Gaza as well as electronic surveillance along the border capable of detecting such an operation in advance.”
His concerns highlight the possibility of an intelligence failure that may have been deliberate, providing a pretext for a full-scale military operation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s past statements lend credence to this theory. In a 2019 meeting with his Likud party, Netanyahu stated:
> “Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas. This is part of our strategy – to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”
(Haaretz, October 9, 2023)
This admission raises the question: Did Israeli leadership knowingly enable Hamas to strengthen, setting the stage for a future conflict that could justify wiping Gaza off the map?
Legal Ramifications and the ICJ’s Contradictions
In January 2024, South Africa initiated legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel, accusing it of genocide under the Genocide Convention. However, the court’s ruling, delivered on January 26, 2024, paradoxically assigned Netanyahu’s government the responsibility to “prevent and punish” acts of genocide—effectively placing the accused in charge of ensuring justice.
Legal experts and human rights organizations argue that this decision undermines the pursuit of accountability and further legitimizes Israel’s actions. Calls for a thorough investigation into the false flag allegations have largely been ignored by international bodies.
The Bigger Picture: A Pretext for Regional Escalation?
Netanyahu’s war strategy has broader regional implications, with increased military cooperation between Israel, the U.S., and NATO. Reports indicate that Israel’s intelligence operations, in conjunction with Western allies, were aware of potential threats but allowed events to unfold to justify military action not only in Gaza but potentially against Iran and Hezbollah.
Israel’s strategic doctrine, long characterized by aggressive territorial expansion and military deterrence, aligns with these unfolding events. The blockade of Gaza, destruction of infrastructure, and forced displacement of civilians are seen by many analysts as steps toward the ultimate goal of Palestinian expulsion from their homeland.
Conclusion: Manufactured Justification for Genocide?
The evidence and statements from officials suggest a deeply troubling possibility, that the Gaza conflict may have been orchestrated or at least permitted to serve a pre-determined political objective. Whether or not it qualifies as a false flag in the strictest sense, the ramifications are clear: the war in Gaza has resulted in widespread devastation, loss of life, and further entrenchment of a long-standing occupation.
Calls for an independent international investigation into these claims remain urgent. The truth behind October 7, 2023, must be uncovered to prevent further atrocities and to hold accountable those responsible for the suffering of millions in Gaza.
