Yesterday it was confirmed that a number of high-ranking officers from the military were compulsorily retired from service over allegations of corruption and fraud.
The army had released a statement announcing the retirement of the soldiers and explaining that there was a need for the military to be non-partisan and focussed on protecting the nation.
It has now been alleged that the retired officers were mostly from the south south and south east.
In a tweet posted by news agency Sahara reporters, they claim that a source alleges that the officers who were retired were mostly Southerners. This has strengthened rumours that the President favours Northerners over other tribes in the country.
