“I remember I wrote an article during the (civil) war and I said at that time that Biafra cannot be defeated, People misunderstood what I was saying”.

I said once an idea has taken hold, you cannot destroy that idea… “You may destroy the people that carry the idea on the battlefield, but, ultimately, it is not the end of the story.”
I was even arrested and detained for almost two years by Nigeria’s then-military regime over my alleged interaction with the Biafra leadership under General Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

What the Nigeria’s government needed now is to talk to pro-Biafra agitators, most of them ethnic Igbos who complain of being marginalized since the end of the conflict.

“Ask what are those things we can do to make you content, to make you feel part of this entity (Nigeria)…

What can we do to make them feel that they belong and are not alienated?”. “Listen to some other Biafrans and ask them why they want to stay.

“But, don’t go around saying ‘the sovereignty of this country is indivisible, this won’t happen under my watch, and it is not negotiable’. That type of language would only make matters worse.”

  1. RE: THE BIAFRA IDEA CANNOT BE DESTROYED : ~by Prof. Wole Soyinka

Yet people like Buhari , his coordinator Osinbajo , Okorocha and his co Southeast eye service Governors , Obasanjo , Wike , Rufai and the other confused citizens think it’s a child’s talk , and keep insulting the peaceful agitators by addressing them as inexperienced young people and youths .

If Brig Gen Achuzie and the other statesmen are inexperienced , young and youths in their bad vision , is Wole Soyinka inexperienced , a young man or youth ❓

  2. It is true that the idea cannot be destroyed but do not forget that just as information can be passed on from person to person and lose key details, the Biafra agitation that had recently resurfaced has lost some key aspects of it.

Here is my own perspective https://frandela.wordpress.com/2017/08/21/my-people-the-biafra-nation-and-my-perspective/
