The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo State, has again been drawn to a subterranean plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Governor Rochas Okorocha to disobey the nation’s Apex Court directive that the Kangaroo Local Government elections being packaged to defraud unsuspecting political parties and their candidates, in Imo State be put on hold until the Supreme Court determines the case between the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Imo State and the Imo State government.
The PDP in Imo State therefore, wishes to categorically state that it shall not take part in the purported election and alert all Nigerians particularly, political parties in Imo State, not to fall into this booby trap of Governor Okorocha, as any money spent by anybody in respect of the purported local government election in Imo State tantamount to an effort futility.
On Monday, the Supreme Court upon the oral application of Barr. Ngozi Olehi, counsel to ALGON, Imo State, directed all parties in the suit before the Apex Court, to keep off from entertaining or participating in any activity pertaining to local government elections in Imo State until the determination of the appeal before it. The Apex Court’s advice is clear and unambiguous except of course, to Governor Okorocha, whose disdain for rule of law is legendary.
It is a known fact in Nigeria today that the Imo State government under Okorocha has acquired notoriety for disobedience to lawful conducts and court’s directives.
The PDP Imo State, in restating its commitment to rule of law and obedience to judicial pronouncements, hereby advises political parties and their candidates, to ignore Okorocha’s propaganda that there was no Supreme Court’s advice to stop the LG elections. As a capitalist, Governor Okorocha will stop at nothing to make money for himself, family and in-laws at the expense of Imo people.
We thereby call on Imo people and indeed, Nigerians to prevail on Governor Rochas Ethelbert Okorocha to stop ridiculing our judicial system by his relentless disobedience to court orders.
The incontestable fact as at now remains that there will be no LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION in Imo State in July, 2018 courtsey of the Supreme Court’s advice of Monday, April 23rd, 2018 and anybody or institutions who intends to disregard the advice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria is begging for chaos.
PDP Imo State thereby, calls on all our teaming supporters to ignore the propaganda and lies of the APC government in Imo State to that fact that there was no advice or directive by the Supreme Court against the conduct of the purported Local Government Election in Imo State.
