•Insists on his Declared Result
Chairman of APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Ahmed Ali Gulak has said it was inappropriate to suspend an election whose results have been declared and a wimner declared.
Reacting to the decision of the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Tuesday to suspend the election, Gulak said the only option available in the circumstance was for anyone who is aggrieved with the result he announced channel such grievances through appeals and the party’s internal mechanism.
Gulak insists that elections held in Imo State and having collated the results, Senator Hope Uzodinma won with
a total poll of 423,895; defeating his closest rival, Prince Eze Madumere who came a distant second with 128, 325 votes.
Gulak said he was forced to hurriedly leave Owerri, the capital of Imo State following security reports.
Oshomole has no right to suspend a committee that has already conducted and pronounced results. It is only Courts that have such power.
The announcement of suspension is a mere gimmick by the party leadership to calm frayed nerves.
Once election results are pronounced and the result sheets signed and released by the constituted electoral institutions, the only institution in position to quash such is the Courts.
So Rochas and Uche Nwosu have no option than to accept the result of the election or approach the courts whose orders the disobey recklessly.
