The Imo state gubernatorial primaries imbroglio. My humble assessment and admonition.

It is no longer news that the 1st October PDP IMO state gubernatorial primary election that produced Rt hon. Emeka Ihedioha as winner, is now subject to litigation. I am of the firm opinion that, often, the problem is not necessarily from the leaders, but as a result of the sycophantic, eye service and ego tripping traits of the followers and media tigers. This is why we are where we are today.

Inasmuch as it is incumbent on Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha as the declared winner to be magnanimous in victory and carry everybody along, Atiku’s victory and leadership style conspicuously instructive here, it takes two to tango and two wrongs cannot make right.

The reactions of Distinguished Senator Sam Daddy by resorting to litigation shouldn’t have been encouraged by anyone who has the interest of our party and the state at heart, but, on the other hand, he can’t be entirely blamed, especially with the near absence of unbiased party internal conflict resolution mechanisms and effective party elder ship and leadership to broker reconciliation, harmonisation, magnanimity and sagacity.

We must all altruistically acknowledge the evident truth that Imo PDP today, is almost devoid of hierarchical elder ship and leadership.

PDP as it stands today is the only hope of a demoralised and traumatised people. Leaders and elders must live up to their responsibilities and make haste to intervene quickly to nip this ugly situation between Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in the bud. If the mountain cannot go to Muhammad, let Muhammad go to the mountain. It is not about Emeka or Sam Daddy anymore, it is now about PDP and our chances of winning the general elections in Imo State come 2019.

It is no more about what transpired, it is more about where we are headed leads us to.

We cannot say the litigation is going nowhere and that since the matter has gone to court so we therefore forclose any peace moves in the meanwhile till the determination of the suit. We need to eschew ego tripping. We cannot keep saying nothing will come of it when everyday, enmity between camps deepen and more battle lines are being drawn. We must also understand that we are giving room for enemies of our party to come in between and widen the divide between us thereby weakening and destroying us from the inside.

The two leaders must search themselves and be ready to make sacrifices for the overall betterment of the party. We need to be assured of their both commitment to any peace resolution moves initiated?

One cannot dismiss the fact that there is obvious mutual distrust between the two camps and that’s so unfortunate considering the circumstances.

Let’s all act fast for our collective good. Let’s not watch a further blunder occure again and then begin to run Helter-skelter to Initiate damage control moves. Nothing will happen except we make it happen. Let the leaders of both camps begin to talk to their principals and begin to instil in them the need to embrace moves to genuinely reconcile.

I understand that some moves have been made to reach out and they should continue. I will also continue to do my best to contribute my personal and group quotas through back channels to ensure that Distinguished Senator Sam Daddy and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha assume a more friendly and receptive posture to enable reconciliatory negotiations to take place.

The State and national excos customarily have a very major role to play here. They need to look at what is possible within their powers to offer as compensatory placation. We all need victory; not conspiracies and failure. Together, we can all recover Power again. Truth be told, there is a gaping vacancy in Douglas house and it’s ours for the take.

It is also pertinent that persons close enough to our candidates should remind them before hand that leaders must be magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat notwithstanding the circumstances.

It is an indisputable fact that a group, a following as formidable as the Divine mandate group that polled 1282 delegate votes after team Ihedioha’s 1723 out of 3000 plus, can be logically assumed to be at least half of Imo PDPs fighting force. We need to do all that is possible and whatever is necessary to make them comfortable and accommodated within the future party election campaign structure. We should endeavour not to allow disillusionment to set in to mar to our chances at the polls. Team Ihedioha as we all know cannot exactly win the 2019 elections alone, nor could the divine mandate group assuming they won. What we don’t need now is any kind of resentment that might lead to internal sabotage of the party.

My ultimate prayer is that PDP wins the 2019 guber election landslide with all our gladiators on one page. We all have a role to play and i plead with the advisers and sycophants alike of the major protagonists, to stop contributing to their hardness of heart with their ego tripping, media antics, bad advices and eye service. Those advisers and close cronys who are angling for positions and are defensive of any peace moves which could mar their chances of achieving their aims should understand that if we don’t win, there would be no positions to occupy or angle for. The odds are in our favour. Let’s get to work. Let’s break the jinx.
