Full text of WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE COALITION OF nPDP IMO STATE IN SUPPORT OF SENATOR HOPE UZODINMA
GENTLEMEN OF THE PRESS,
I bring you good tidings as I welcome you all to this New Year of 2019, a year that holds definition to our persistent struggle to bring good governance back to the beleaguered Imo citizens who’s been traumatized in the last 8yrs of the present government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
You may recall that, during our Maiden Address and founding of nPDP Imo, a lot was said about the rascality and impunity of those that felt they own the PDP in Imo State and their irreverence in tyrannizing and disenfranchisement of over 300,000 of our coalition members within the PDP family by rudely stealing the people’s mandate handed over to Distinguished Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu to be our flag bearer for this year’s gubernatorial elections.
However, despite the pendency of the matter in court, PDP both in the National and in the state is still carrying on as if nothing has happened even as they continue to fail in every motion introduced by them in court to miscarry justice and shortchange the people’s choice.
We had, during our Maiden address of 15th of November 2018, taken our grievances to the National Working Committee, Prince Uche Secondus, the President of the Senate, The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, our own Ahaejiagamba, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and most of those that call the shots in the party to intervene by allowing due process to return to Imo PDP in allowing the people’s choice in the 1st October, 2018 primaries to prevail or risk a revolt by the coalition, but impunity seems to be the catch phrase.
The coalition of nPDP must now make a choice of self determination as an option to take our destiny in our hands. This option will ensure our enfranchisement under a new political arrangement and platform.
Expectedly, the 28th November, 2018 given to the National leadership of PDP by the coalition of nPDP to address the grievances of the disenfranchised members came and went without any action taken to ensure any form of redress.
The seed of mass defection of the aggrieved members was accordingly sowed and watered by the actions and inactions of the PDP leadership which decided to abdicate its fatherly role of uniting its warring members.
Gentlemen of the press, the nPDP as a group and Coalition of like minds are a highly motivated political family driven by a common desire to take Imo state back to the enviable heights it once occupied in the comity of progressive states in Nigeria.
Our hold on the grassroots in Imo politics is not in doubts as our eventual departure from PDP will ensure that the soul of the party goes with us as well.
After due consultations with our teeming members and supporters and after having carefully proof-read the various political scenarios and attendant platforms across the broad spectrum of Imo politics, it is our considered view point therefore that, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma holds the ace to bring about a greater Imo state and its citizens.
The nPDP Imo has accordingly birthed its political aspirations and interests in the camp of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma and the APC as we continue to reconfigure and redefine politics in Imo State to work with individuals of proven sterner stuff.
Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has stood himself out as a great leader of people that will always fight from the front as evidently manifested when he led the acclaimed ALLIED FORCES to not only demystify the curse of our people and notorious Governor Rochas Okorocha, but ultimately against all predictions snatched the much coveted party ticket to end Familocracy government in Imo State.
Our confidence and trust in Senator Hope Uzodimma is understood by the fact that, the credit for this marvelous feat of liberating the people of Imo State is largely due to the individual political savvy of tested political maverick, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Let me for fear of immodesty, say that Imo people owe the Distinguished Senator much appreciation and it has become quite obvious, that this great son of the soil had nothing more to prove to Imo people about his love for his people and his preparedness to go extra mile in making sacrifice for the citizens of Imo State.
We, at the nPDP are very happy to pitch our political tent with APC towards delivering the next Governor of our great state and work together with Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to bring about a new Imo that will take back its pride of place among the leading states in Nigeria.
ON BEHALF OF THE TEEMING MEMBERS OF NPDP, I HEREBY COLLAPSE EVERY STRUCTURE OF NPDP FROM BOOTH LEVEL TO THE STATE STRUCTURES INTO APC AND CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION OF SEN. HOPE UZODIMMA.
Long live APC
Long live Senator Hope Uzodinma
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
