Anioma is in the South-South as a result of wrong geographical, political, and social classifications orchestrated by wicked anti-Igbo military regimes. By every index, the Anioma Igbo extract of Delta State are proper Igbos. Historical accounts show that they sacrificed a lot for the existence of the Igbo nation during Biafra. I do not suppose that any of the five present Igbo states in the South-East is more Igbo than them.
I do not see anything wrong in creating Anioma State and ceding it back to the Igbo nation called the South-East. Do the Igbos have anything to lose if we possess our possession or reclaim what is rightly ours?
However, let it be noted that the Igbo entity is not limited to the politically manipulated nomenclature called the South-East. We also have to bear in mind that Igbo communities ceded to other entities may be reclaimed in future. They exist in Rivers State, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Benue, Kogi, and Edo.
I urge us to go back to history and research well. Any government can come tomorrow and change the nomenclature South-East and so on. Please let us act with caution, be liberal in politics, and not be short-sighted or allow ourselves to be engulfed by myopic sentiments that will cloud our sense of reasoning.
That is my honest position.
